The South Jersey Anti-Trafficking Coalition (SJATC) is seeking volunteers to assist in an outreach project in Camden County, Gloucester County, and Cumberland County. Those who participate in the S.O.A.P. Project (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution) will have the opportunity to educate the public about the signs of human trafficking and raise awareness about children who are missing in our community. Attendees will visit local motels/hotels to distribute bars of soap that are marked with information about the National Human Trafficking Hotline. These bars of soap will be placed in guestrooms, and staff will learn what red flags may indicate a guest is a victim of human trafficking.
All volunteers must:
- Be at least 19 years of age (those ages 16-18 may attend if accompanied by an adult)
- Have access to a vehicle and be willing to drive to several motels and hotels in the area with a small team of other volunteers
- Dedicate a full day of service to training, outreach, and follow-up
Prior registration is required. To sign up, send an email with your name, phone number, and county of residence to sjatc@centerffs.org by October 1, 2019.
On the day of the event, sign-in begins at 9:00 a.m. Plan to arrive early and be ready for training and distribution of materials, which starts at 9:30 a.m.
