On October 27th, Fred D’Andrea from Comcast and Daniela Desiderio from the Housing Authority of the City of Camden joined residents as they signed up for Comcast EssentialsComcast Essentials gives residents in Public Housing the opportunity to enjoy Internet access in their homes along with providing a wealth of online information at their fingertips for only $9.95 per month.

Ablett Village resident leader, Tracie Herrick, expressed excitement regarding the initiative. “What a great opportunity for our residents and their families to be a part of the technology world,” she remarked. After many of the residents in attendance were approved for the program, they enjoyed a pizza luncheon as Ms. Daniela Desiderio shared with the families that they would be able to take advantage of free Digital Literacy classes being provided as well.  The classes take a multi-pronged approach in that it assists children under 7 years of age with the ABC Mouse Literacy Program, those 8 and older are taught how to navigate the internet and utilize computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint..
