Do you have a skill or hobby that you are interested in sharing with the community? Volunteers are needed to lead activities or lend their skills at our Family Success Centers and residential programs.

The Family Success Centers, located in Clementon, Blackwood, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway, and Camden, are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where any community resident can go for family support, information, and services. Through the Family Success Center, we provide families with convenient access to a wide array of services and family friendly activities offered on a daily basis.  Here are a few ideas  of activities that can be led by volunteers in our Family Success Centers:

  • Tutoring children
  • Coordinating arts and crafts activities
  • Leading workshops
  • Offering computer skills training

 

Our residential programs provide safe and supportive housing to young people as well as mothers and their children in need of a safe place to live. These programs in Camden and Gloucester Counties provide residents with a stable foundation and strengthen their ability for self-sufficiency. Here are some ideas for activities that can be led by volunteers in our residential programs:

  • Assist with playtime while mothers participate in educational workshops
  • Baking cookies every Sunday
  • Leading a sewing or tailoring workshop
  • Leading a workshop for poetry, creative writing, singing, or another form of artistic expression
  • Creating and leading a fitness, wellness, or nutrition  class

Living Proof Recovery Center is in need of volunteers who can assist with a variety of tasks including:
  • Telephone & Community Outreach

SERV Sexual Violence AdvocateApply Now

SERV Sexual Violence program Volunteer Advocates residing in Camden, Cumberland, or Gloucester County are needed to accompany sexual violence victims to the hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and courts. Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates (CSVA) assist with crisis intervention, advocacy, and hotline calls. Volunteers also attend community and health fairs representing Center For Family Services and the SERV program.

Volunteers must:

  • be 18 years of age
  • Complete 40 hours of CSVA training (for volunteers only serving Camden) and pass the Sexual Violence Advocate exam / Complete the 60 hours of CSVA and DVRT training (for Gloucester and Cumberland Counties) and pass the dual Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate exam

SERV Domestic Violence AdvocateApply Now

SERV Domestic Violence program Volunteer Advocates residing in Cumberland and Gloucester County are needed to accompany domestic violence victims to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and courts. Domestic VIolence Response Team (DVRT) volunteers assist with crisis intervention, advocacy, and hotline calls. Volunteers also attend community and health fairs representing Center For Family Services and the SERV program.

Volunteers must:

  • be 18 years of age
  • Complete 60 hours of CSVA and DVRT training (for volunteers in Cumberland and Gloucester County) and pass the dual Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate exam.

Volunteer to Become a MentorApply Now

As a mentor, you can spend quality time with a young person to improve their self-esteem, promote youth development, help them deal with day-to-day challenges, and most importantly, have fun.

Become a mentor and make a positive impact on the life of a child.

Mentors are currently needed to support children in the path to a safe and healthy future. You can provide the support a child needs. Mentors are currently needed to support:

  • Youth who identify as LGBTQIA+ (LifeTies PRIDE Mentor)
  • Youth in Mercer County who have a minor offense in the youth justice system (LifeTies Mentor)
  • Youth who are impacted by a family member's addiction (Stepping Stones to Resiliency Mentor)
  • Youth in Camden City School District (CPN Mentor - school staff are eligible to be a mentor)
Requirements:
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Complete our comprehensive mentorship training
  • Submit to a driving record check and criminal background check
  • Commit to mentoring 2-4 hours per month for 6 months to 1 year. 

KaleidoscopeApply Now

As a Kaleidoscope volunteer, you will help create a positive and affirming environment for teens and young adults who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Volunteers assist with tabling, leading activities, and supporting monthly meetings for teen and young adult groups. To learn more or apply to volunteer, contact Del Densely.

Volunteers must be culturally competent regarding LGBTQIA+ communities, able to pass required background checks, and be able to work collaboratively. Lived-experience or experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community is highly desired.

Opportunities to volunteer are available in Camden County, Mercer County, Essex County, and Morris County. A one-year commitment is desired.

As a volunteer, you will:

  1. Increase awareness of services for LGBTQIA+ identifying youth and young adults
  2. Increase program resources during meetings i.e. identifying: program speakers, affirming social activities, etc. 
  3. Be a positive role model for youth and young adults
