Primary Service Area: Bilingual Consumers

Connecting all communities to health insurance for free is one of the top priorities for Center For Family Services Navigator Exchange Program. Nathaly Ozoria, one of the team’s bilingual navigators, recently spoke with the host of ‘Perfil Latino’ which aired on Telemundo to share information with South Jersey residents.  Ozoria spoke about which specific documents to look for in the mail when preparing tax paperwork and the penalty that some can face if they fail to get healthcare coverage.

Ozoria knows first-hand about the importance of health insurance within the Spanish speaking population and has conducted targeted outreach toSpanish speaking churches, community centers, and restaurants.  During the interview, she discussed ways that immigrants can access health insurance and encouraged interested individuals and families to call the ACCESS Line to schedule an appointment with a Navigator to determine their healthcare options.  For those that do not qualify through The Marketplace or state Medicaid program, Ozoria elaborated on Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers that can be accessed within specific counties.

“I’m glad that we’re able to share information about the Navigator Program in multiple languages, so that everyone is aware of their health insurance options, regardless of what language they speak,” says Ozoria.  Having multiple Spanish speaking navigators within the Navigator team makes health insurance more accessible for those that have English as a second language.  ‘Perfil Latino’ has been working to increase cultural awareness and bridge bilingual understanding since it was founded in 2001.
