On Wednesday September 5th, 2018 Camden Leaders reopened and shared with residents particularly the kids the new and improved Alberta Woods Park.

Camden leaders like Mayor Frank Moran, Susan Bass Levin and Jeffrey Nash along with parents and students spoke about what this park meant to them and the city. The park which was designed by the children of the neighborhood symbolizes the renaissance of Camden, where new old areas are being cleaned up and new areas are being created both to be utilized and celebrated in the City of Camden.

Mayor Moran spoke about the importance of spaces for families to and the neighborhood to come together. He looks forward to the new park being used for family barbeques, kick ball games and events here in the city. The park includes a stage, picnic tables, swing sets, play ground areas and a spray park.

Maritza Camacho, of the Mastery Parent Action Team spoke about her family and how they always choose to utilize the Cooper River Park play area because the park that was closest to them did not have what their children liked. She was proud to have a new park to share with her family and enoy on the week-ends and only hoped that the community would work together to keep it clean and safe. Her twelve year old daughter spoke after her and was happy with the new look of the park. She was excited to have swings and new gadgets to explore.

After everyone had delivered their speeches and gave thanks to the people that made this park possible, the children lined up alongside Camden leaders to watch the ribbon cutting and be among the first to enjoy the playground. Parents, children and teachers enjoyed the playground and the spray area on the hot summer day. Children lined up to receive free water ice and the smiles were not sparse.
