Students from Camden Academy Charter High School visited the Campbell’s Headquarters to learn about how science makes for better food.

It’s all part of a national initiative to show kids careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Tasty food is a science, especially when making enough soup to fill thousands of cans. Starches and enzymes must be just right, or the whole batch is ruined.

Sophomore Jarlina Lahara hopes to work here someday.

“It’s not just going into the kitchen and just making things up. There’s a lot behind it, and it really opens my mind to it,” she said.

Menexia Tsoubeli is a VP at Campbell’s and says one of the goals of the STEM program is to get young ladies like Jarlina thinking about their future.

“We hope, through experiential learning, to motivate them and inspire them,” said Tsoubeli.

Nationwide, more than 10,000 students spent time learning from STEM professionals.
