Mosaic Early Learning’s Commitment to School Readiness: A Bright Future Starts Here
The mission of Mosaic Early Learning is to ensure that every child is prepared not just for kindergarten, but for lifelong success. The Head Start Approach to School Readiness means that children are ready for school, families are ready to support their children’s learning, and schools are ready for children.
Mosaic Early Learning's School Readiness Goals were developed in order to meet the Office of Head Start mandated school readiness goals, which are defined as “the expectations of children’s status and progress across domains of language and literacy development, cognition and general knowledge, approaches to learning, physical health and well-being and motor development, and social and emotional development that will improve readiness for kindergarten goals” and that “appropriately reflect the ages of children, birth to five, participating in the program”.
What Does School Readiness Mean?
Head Start defines school readiness as more than just knowing letters and numbers—it’s about children possessing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to thrive in school and beyond. True readiness happens when:
- Children are equipped with the tools they need to learn and grow.
- Families are empowered to support their child’s education.
- Schools are prepared to welcome and meet the needs of every child.
This three-point approach ensures that children transition smoothly into kindergarten with confidence, curiosity, and the ability to succeed.
Mosaic Early Learning’s School Readiness Goals
As mentioned Mosaic Early Learning developed its school readiness goals in alignment with the Office of Head Start’s mandated standards. These goals focus on every area of a child’s development, including:
- Language and Literacy Development – Building communication and early reading skills.
- Cognition and General Knowledge – Fostering problem-solving, math readiness, and curiosity.
- Approaches to Learning – Encouraging creativity, persistence, and a love of learning.
- Physical Health, Well-Being, and Motor Development – Promoting healthy habits and physical development.
- Social and Emotional Development – Helping children build relationships, self-confidence, and emotional resilience.
