TD Charitable Foundation Supports Center For Family Services with Donation

Thursday, October 25, 2012

CAMDEN – The TD Charitable Foundation, funded by TD Bank, recently donated a total of $20,000 to Center For Family Services (CFS) as part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community.

CFS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and empower individuals, families, and communities to achieve a better life through vision, hope and strength. The funds from the TD Charitable Foundation will support the CFS Head Start Healthy Living, Healthy Learning early childhood summer program.

The Healthy Living, Healthy Learning summer program is an extension of the high quality early child educational services offered to Head Start children during the school year.  Head Start is a program of the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and families. The summer program provides a safe, healthy environment where children can continue learning throughout the summer and maintain the educational gains made throughout the school year.

“For the children being served at CFS Head Start, summer learning loss is a significant issue,” said Richard Stagliano, President/CEO of Center For Family Services. “While many children make positive academic gains during the school year, the lack of exposure to books and continued learning opportunities during the summer can cause students to regress by the start of the next school year.

“With support from the TD Charitable Foundation, we will provide a summer program where children will have a safe place to play, learn, and grow during the summer months.  The program is designed to reduce summer learning loss and promote kindergarten readiness,” said Stagliano.

By continuing the high quality early childhood education program for Head Start children throughout the summer, CFS will be able to make great strides to bridge the school readiness gap between Camden County’s children in poverty and their middle and upper class peers.
