SERV Program Extends Services to Cumberland County

Monday, May 4, 2009

(CAMDEN, NJ) May, 2009- Center For Family Services’ SERV program will become the designated rape crisis provider for Cumberland County. The SERV program is already experienced in providing services in Camden and Gloucester counties, such as victim accompaniment to hospitals, crisis intervention, counseling and educational presentations to school and community groups.

These services, among others, will be offered free of charge and confidentially for residents of Cumberland County beginning Friday by calling the SERV hotline (1-866-295-SERV). The 24-hour, toll-free number is available to get information, request services or make referrals. There is also a SERV office located in Vineland, NJ.

“Center For Family Services is honored to have been chosen by Division on Women (DOW) to be Cumberland County’s designated rape crisis provider. Our agency is committed to providing victims and survivors of sexual assault the highest quality of comprehensive care, and we will continue to do so as we expand our practices to Cumberland County,” said Center For Family Services President, Richard Stagliano.

To create strong, positive relationships with police, hospitals, SANE nurses and the prosecutor’s office, Center For Family Services has met with the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), ensuring a smooth transition.  “We are developing these relationships to deliver a high quality service for Cumberland County” said Regina Ridge, SERV Program Director for Center For Family Services.

In order to ensure the excellent coverage we aim to provide, Center For Family Services will be working with existing advocates, and is seeking additional volunteers to provide accompaniments and advocate services. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the SERV hotline number for more information.
