The Camden Promise Neighborhood is birth-to-college-and-career pathway of services including: Birth to Five Early Learning Network, Elementary/Middle School Programs, High School, College and Career Pathways to Success, and Family and Community services. All services are free and voluntary. You choose the services that best meet your needs.

Early Learning Network (Ages 0-5)

Baby’s Best Start

A nine-week parenting workshop for the entire family designed to support a child’s early development from pregnancy/birth to age 3.

A volunteer-based program, placing parents and community volunteers in classrooms on a weekly basis to reach with children to support school readiness goals.

Program that improves the health of pregnant women, babies, mothers and fathers through prenatal education and tools for healthy childhood development, serving families with a child up to age of 2.

Early Head Start Child Care Partnership
Center-based, year-round, full day program for pregnant women, infants and toddlers up to age 3 that gets children off to a healthy start and supports families in meeting personal goals.

Early Intervention
Home or child care center based program designed to support parents of children with developmental delays from birth to age 3. Specially-trained service coordinators help families access services, care and support to help children reach their full potential.

Year-round preschool for children age 3-5. The program provides opportunities for children to advance in all areas of development and offers a strong support network for families.

Summer program at Wiggins School designed to bridge the transition from preschool to kindergarten, offering activities, early literacy and math skills to ensure children are academically and socially ready for kindergarten in September.

Nurse Family Partnership
Home visiting program for first time moms who are pregnant 28 weeks or less. Nurses provide education and support for a healthy pregnancy, becoming a good parent, and skills to establish a strong family and economic self-sufficiency.

Parents as Teachers
Home visiting program that supports parents and caregivers of children from prenatal through age three. Parent educators encourage child development-centered parenting and promote family well-being to help children get off to a strong start.

Raising a Reader

Through Raising a Reader, children (in preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade) receive books and materials for at home reading.  Children bring home different books each week to help families stay meaningfully involved in supporting their child's literacy development.

Summer Explorations

A fun and enriching summer program for preschool children age 3-5. The program runs from July 5th to August 17th and includes interactive story time, Live Stage Adventures at Rutgers-Camden, cooking activities, outdoor exploration, music and movement and reading time. Plus, families receive the support network provided through Head Start! Limited transportation is available.

Our High School programs provide academic and wrap-around supports to ensure students succeed in graduating from high school and following a path to college and career. Cure4Camden
A community based violence interruption program designed to stop the spread of violence. This program detects and interrupts conflicts, identifies and supports high-risk individuals and changes social norms around violence.

  • HopeMobile - Food distribution on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 9am - noon at KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy (Broadway & Clinton). Open to families in the Promise Neighborhood.
     
  • Wiggins Food Bank - Food distribution on the 2nd Monday of every month at Wiggins School. Open to families in the Promise Neighborhood.

 

Healthy Routes Neighborhood Delivery
An online grocery ordering and delivery program in partnership with ShopRite. Groceries can be ordered online through ShopRite from Home and delivered weekly to key locations in the community with no delivery fees, providing increased access to affordable, healthy food options for residents.

Safe Corridors is a neighborhood safety program that works closely with schools, local public safety officials, local business partners, and neighborhood residents, identifying safe routes for children to walk to and from school and providing innovative safety practices and resources for business owners and residents.
