Center for Family Services is seeking an experienced individual for the Recovery Support Specialist position within its Child Protection Substance Abuse Initiative Program.  The Recovery Support Specialist draws upon their life experience to carry a message of hope and recovery to individuals who are experiencing substance use disorder.  This individual provides encouragement, outreach, personal assistance in the completion of daily living skills, linkage to community supports, transportation, in home services, and advocacy to individuals in the program. The Recovery Support Specialist is a key member of the program’s team and shares knowledge, hope and skills while being a positive role model and educating parents and caregivers.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

The Recovery Support Specialist maintains relationships with parent/caregiver and families in order to assist individuals in the treatment engagement and retention process, reinforces and ensures that recovery is possible, provides supportive outreach and engagement, and assists in establishing and sustaining a social and physical environment supportive of recovery.  This individual enhances identification and participation in the recovery community.  The Recovery Support Specialist develops a Recovery plan with the parent/caregiver, attends all Family Team Meetings and Focus on Supervision as requested, provides direct client services, completes all documentation of parent/caregiver contact within 24 hours, and maintains appropriate service record according to agency and program guidelines. The Recovery Support Specialist provides weekly supervision alternating between individual and group with a minimum of two individual supervision sessions per month.

Full Time
  • High School Diploma or GED require, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • At least two years’ of continuous recovery or two years of practicing principles of recovery as a family member affected by substance abuse
  • Excellent driving skills and current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
