Local Nonprofit Leader Recognized with National Award
CAMDEN, NJ – Eileen Henderson, COO of Center For Family Services was named winner of the Samuel Gerson Nordlinger Child Welfare Leadership Award by the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. The award was formally presented to Eileen on Tuesday, October 16 during the Alliance National Conference in Denver.
The Samuel Gerson Nordlinger Child Welfare Leadership Award is annually awarded by the Alliance to recognize an individual who makes a significant impact on public opinion and awareness about children’s issues and services; the national public policy process that greatly benefits children and children’s services; and the affairs of the Alliance through a leadership role.
For nearly 20 years, Eileen has served as Chief Operating Officer for Center For Family Services, and helped to lead the organization in remaining true to its mission and responsive to the needs of the southern region of New Jersey. Through her dedication and perseverance, she has worked tirelessly to provide specialized care for children and teens in need of safety, support, and inspiration.
Henderson’s desire to enact social change is evident throughout her career. Her efforts have culminated into a continuum of care that provides supportive services to thousands of young people annually. She has worked diligently to create new services and opportunities for individuals to overcome complex challenges including homeless, addiction, mental illness, and trauma.
Henderson is a staple in the community, actively invested in creating reform that will promote welfare and advance equity for children and families throughout southern New Jersey. Henderson sits on various statewide and local advisory councils and boards, where she shares her expertise in efforts to shape practices and policies to the benefit of children, adolescents and families and the organizations that serve them.
