VOORHEES, NJ- On June 11th, what would have been Justin Wolfe’s 22nd birthday, his family and friends instead celebrated the memory of his life and took action to raise awareness about addiction, the disease that robbed him of his young life in December 2012.
Justin’s father, Gregg, wanted to use his son’s birthday to help others. With the help of over 200 people he did just that; raising $5,000 for Center For Family Services’ Living Proof Recovery Center.
Gregg Wolfe released this statement after Tuesday's event, "On behalf of my family and me, I would like to extend our many thanks for the overwhelming support everyone exhibited by attending and contributing to such a worthy cause to stem such a deadly disease."
The Living Proof Recovery Center, recently opened in Voorhees in early 2013, is dedicated to helping individuals in recovery and maintained by individuals in recovery. Living Proof is opened 7 days a week and offers a full-array of peer driven support, sober recreation, and linkages to resources for people considering, just entering, or already in recovery.
“The outpouring of support from Justin’s family and friends is inspiring,” comments John Thompson, Program Director of Living Proof Recovery Center. “Honoring his short life and taking a stand to raise awareness around addiction will help others see that this disease can’t be fought alone. We need to support each other and help individuals get connected to the resources needed for recovery.”
