Center for Family Services is seeking an experienced individual for the Recovery Specialist position within its STAR Program. The Recovery Specialist works with individuals to support and strengthen their capacity to engage in their personal recovery. This individual has a working knowledge of wellness and health that comes along with recovery support, educates individuals on how to appropriately navigate treatment, social service and recovery support systems, and provides recovery support services based on the individual’s preference and his or her assessed needs. The Recovery Specialist is a key member of the program’s team and provides support with face to face sessions and/or telephone support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Recovery Specialist develops a Recovery Plan which includes culturally competent and relevant services that identifies goals with measurable objectives, assesses strengths, is used to work towards those goals, identifies barriers that can inhibit goal attainment, and monitors the progress made attaining those goals. This individual supports and encourages individuals as they move through the stages of change in recovery, assists individuals with accessing recovery support services in the community, works with the Case manager to ensure the individual engages in services up to one year, and maintains relationships with the individual to assist him or her in the treatment engagement and retention process. The Recovery Specialist assists the individual participating in STAR with gaining skills and resources needed to initiate and maintain recovery, assists in establishing and sustaining a social and physical environment supportive of recovery, advocates for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery, and helps individuals maintain healthy community, family and social functioning.

- High School Diploma or equivalency is required but an Associate’s Degree is preferred
- Two years’ experience in the guiding principles of recovery
- Excellent driving skills and current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years
- Vehicle with current insurance and registration
