Center for Family Services is looking for a responsible and organized individual to fill the Child Counselor position in the Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) program. SERV provides crisis intervention, counseling, and support to survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The program provides personalized care to help people follow a path to healing. The Child Counselor is responsible for providing individual and group counseling services to child victims of domestic violence. The counselor reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor. The hours vary (some evenings) and that the position is split between Glassboro and Vineland.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing individual counseling to child victims of domestic violence
  • Facilitate weekly children’s support group in safe house and at outreach office
  • Provide parent-child counseling and work in conjunction on parenting skills
  • Ensure the each child in the safe house is enrolled and attending school
  • Ensure recreational services for children and provide a structured environment
  • Provide victims with case related medical and information
  • Provide appropriate referrals of victims
  • Maintain victim case file including state agency paperwork requirements
  • Maintain statistics and evaluation forms
  • Attend Community, County, and State coalition meetings
  • Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operation of the program

  • Must complete 40 hour New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocacy crisis training and the 40 hour Domestic Violence Training provided by SERV
  • Experience working with victims and survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required
  • A Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required
  • Professional license: LSW, LCSW, LAC, or LPC required
  • A Domestic Violence Specialist Certificate (DVS) and 10 years of experience working with victims of sexual and domestic violence can replace a degree
  • Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
