CHERRY HILL, NJ – As summer comes to a close, families are gearing up for one of the busiest times of the year, back to school. While many families celebrate a fresh start with a new backpack and the latest gadgets and supplies, not everyone in the community has someone to provide them with these necessities.
Center For Family Services (CFS) and the Cherry Hill Mall have teamed up to make back to school shopping a possibility for some these deserving children. On Monday, August 16th at 4 pm, five lucky students will each receive a $100 Cherry Hill Mall gift card. The recipients, teens involved in CFS programs, will be given the chance to shop the mall for items necessary for a successful school year.
Providing back to school supplies to children throughout southern New Jersey isn’t a new concept to Center For Family Services. This shopping event is being held in conjunction with their annual backpack drive, “Operation Backpack”. Each year, CFS partners with local businesses, organizations and community members to bring new backpacks and supplies to children within their programs.
The need this year is greater than ever. With more families struggling to make ends meet, items like new backpacks and binders often go by the wayside. “It is important that every child has the supplies necessary for school,” said Richard Stagliano, President and CEO, Center For Family Services. “When a child is adequately equipped for school it enhances their ability to learn.”
The Center is seeking new backpacks filled with school supplies for student’s ages 4-19 through August 23rd. Monetary donations and gift cards for school supplies and clothing are also appreciated.
