CAMDEN- Children and families in the Camden Cooper Lanning communtiy gathered at Lanning Square Family School - Broadway to enjoy a Community Day filled with music, food, fun and entertainment. The event, hosted by the Camden Cooper Lanning Promise Neighborhood (CCLPN) Team, provided an opportunity to connect families with community resources while providing fun and enriching activities for children.
Mayor Dana Redd participated in the fun by dancing with a group of youngsters and speaking to children about the importance of staying focused on school.  Children also enjoyed arts and crafts, face painting, and story time. Cooper University Hospital was on-site to provide health screening and flu shots. In conjunction with their ‘Make a Difference Day’, Campbell’s Soup Company generously donated food boxes filled with non perishables which were distributed to families attending the event.
"We are committed to providing a support network for children and families in Cooper Lanning so that this community provides every opportunity for children and families to thrive and succeed," said Merilee Rutolo, Vice President of Center For Family Services and CCLPN co-leader. "Our goal is to provide comprehensive services from cradle to college to career."
The Cooper Lanning Promise Neighborhood Initiative is focused on creating opportunities for children and families who live within the Cooper Plaza and Lanning Square communities to thrive. Community Day is one of many events that is helping to improve the quality of life of this targeted neighborhood.
