CAMDEN, NJ(August 15, 2012) – Today, the OKI Data Americas U.S. Sales team donated more than 140 pairs of shoes to area children in need through the Center for Family Services (CFS) – a nonprofit human services agency located in Camden, NJ – as part of the agency’s Head Start Healthy Living Healthy Learning summer program’s two-day Back to School Literacy Carnival events held in Chews Landing and Camden, NJ.

“We are pleased to support Center for Family Services and the children and families they serve within our community," said Greg Van Acker, Vice President of U.S. Sales at OKI Data Americas. “The OKI U.S. Sales team has already started contributing to another ‘shoe bank’, and we look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in children’s lives.”

The Head Start Healthy Living, Healthy Learning summer program, funded through a grant from Campbell Soup Foundation, provides a high quality summer learning program to children age 3-5 in Camden City and Camden County. The program focuses on school readiness, nutrition, health, and family engagement.

The Back to School Literacy Carnivals provided children and parents with fun and educational activities to promote a love learning. The events celebrate literacy, school readiness, and long term educational success.

In addition to a new pair of shoes, children were also provided with new backpacks, school supplies, and picture book to prepare for the start of the school year.

“We are very grateful for the generous support and donations from our community partners including Campbell Soup Foundation, Rowan University, American Reading Company, and OKI Data. This Back to School event helps us to create a positive experience for children and prepare them for a successful transition to kindergarten.”
