The award is accompanied by a $15,000 grant from Aramark.

The Aramark Building Community Organizational Leadership Award honors exceptional high-impact organizations that drive a culture of population health and well-being within their community, and is presented annually by Aramark, a global leader in food, facilities and uniforms, and the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, a strategic action network of social sector organizations. This year’s award was announced at the Alliance’s annual Senior Leadership Conference in Clearwater, FL.

“Aramark is proud to recognize Center for Family Services for their dedication to advancing healthy living in communities throughout Southern New Jersey,” said Karen Cutler, Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs at Aramark. “By successfully bringing together community, government, nonprofit and business sector partners Center for Family Services is making an impact on the well-being of children and families for generations to come.”

As the largest social service agency in Camden, CFS has a 98-year history of delivering social services in southern New Jersey, and an accomplished record of collaboration with neighborhood residents, the school district, government leaders, and local service providers to improve the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children, youth, and families. CFS provides programs in community and behavioral health, early childhood education, family support and prevention, safe and supportive housing, substance abuse, victim and trauma care, and workforce development. As part of its focus on community health, CFS engages with children and families in a holistic, results-based approach to address issues such as food insecurity – access and affordability of healthy options, physical activity in safe spaces (structured recess, after school and summer), establishing medical homes and access to immunizations, parent engagement and education supporting every stage/age, targeted prevention and intervention services related to socio-emotional development and mental health, and other health-specific resources.

For more than a decade, Aramark and the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities have partnered to help communities thrive by bringing resources to the local level and cultivating strong relationships. Aramark’s global volunteer and philanthropic program, Aramark Building Community, enriches and nourishes lives by partnering with local community centers and sharing resources to inspire families to lead healthy lifestyles and help people succeed through education and employment.
