CCC Students Inspire Others to Stand, Speak, Empower

VINELAND-At the center of the Cumberland County College gymnasium stood collages. One displayed photos of victims lost to domestic violence and sexual abuse, the other was filled with annoymous messages from survivors telling their stories.

Jessica Slater, 31, was emotional Wednesday through the entire afternoon portion of the "Cumberland Cares" campaign against domestic violence and sexual abuse. A domestic violence victim nearly a decade ago, she organized the awareness event.

"Being a survivor, I feel like I see abused women everywhere," Slater said. "It can be very horrifying."
