Kids and teens of the Boys and Girls Club got active Tuesday in a Triple Play-Lead the Way event. The field-day style event, hosted by the Camden County chapter, featured games and activities such as yoga, obstacle courses, giant Jenga and more.

The program's mission was to educate today's youth about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle as well as building trust and teamwork skills all while having fun.

About 120 kids, ranging from ages 6 to 12, in blue, yellow and orange t-shirts filled the gymnasium at the Boys & Girls Club participating in different activities that got them up and active and having a great time.

"I think you have to bring activities to where kids are," said Bernadette Shanahan, executive director of Boys & Girls Club of Camden County. "Trust and teamwork are also very important to any child because if they're not believing in what they're doing, they're just not going to participate."

Shanahan added that children have to enjoy the company of other kids and learn to play in a safe and effective way, and that's what Boys & Girls Club is trying to instill.
