The Monthly Reading Blitz

Mar 08, 2012

Reading Blitz volunteers needed!

The Camden Cooper Lanning Promise Neighborhood Team will host the next Reading Blitz event on Thursday, February 16th at Lanning Square Family School - Fetters School and Parkside School locations.  The Reading Blitz events pair children one-to-one to read aloud to volunteers for 20-30 minute blocks.

Volunteers are needed in order to make each Reading Blitz a success! Join us as a Reading Blitz volunteer and make a difference in a child's success in school.  Volunteers help students improve their reading skills and develop a love of reading!

It is easy to get involved. Volunteers can sign up to participate in either the morning session or the afternoon session or both. Each Reading Blitz session begins with a brief training for all volunteers presented by American Reading Company. Volunteers then have the opportunity to sit with 3-4 children for 20 minute blocks of time. Children read aloud, while volunteers offer encouragement and support!

For more information and to volunteer, email promiseneighborhood@centerffs.org or call 856.964.1990 x110.

Thursday, March 8th Reading Blitz Schedule:

The Reading Blitz events are designed to work with the "100 Book Challenge," an American Reading Company program that increases literacy skills in children.  The Reading Blitz pairs children one-to-one for 30 minutes of reading with adult volunteers to encourage an enjoyment of reading.
