Quixote Quest

Quixote Quest is Center For Family Services' youth volunteer program focusing on teen participation in community service. High school students (age 14-18) receive guidance and support to positively impact their community through a commitment to volunteerism and philanthropy.

To truly make a difference volunteers need to be committed to their volunteer service and be willing to invest their time to make a change in the lives of people or animals needing their help.  Through a unique approach, which bonds young volunteers together in a club atmosphere, QQ exposes teens to positive experiences that affect their view of community service....now and in the future.

I joined Quixote Quest late in my freshman year and have been in it for close to two years. Its more than just volunteer work. You make life long friends as you help your community and touch people's lives on very personal levels. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys volunteering and wants to build bonds with their peers at the same time.

Quixote Quest maintains strong relationships with community organizations needing quality and committed volunteers, and who have opportunities that include teenagers in their important work.  QQ helps each teen member to connect with a good cause, while taking into consideration the time and location of the community service, in order that it fits their schedule and transportation needs.

Quixote Quest currently has clubs in the following counties in NJ:

  • Burlington
  • Camden
  • Gloucester
  • Mercer
  • Middlesex

QQ seeks members that have the desire to be a dependable volunteer, volunteering once per week, and being an active part of the club, attending two evening club gatherings each month with other teens that feel the same way about the importance of community service and helping others.

Quixote Quest members (called the Qrew) come from over 40 New Jersey high schools and volunteer at over 35 community sites.  The combined volunteer hours from Qrew members totals more than 8000 hours per school year.   There are currently more than 100 Qrew members.

Qrew members also have the option to join with other QQ Club members once a month to do a large Group Service Project (GSP) that benefits an important local, state, national, or international cause.  GSP's are hard work but they are great fun and are a way to meet people from other parts of the state who feel the same about the importance of volunteering.  GSP's are not mandatory but many Qrew members enjoy participating in these projects which provide support to a worthy cause.

Quixote Quest is fortunate to work with great community causes who offer meaningful volunteer opportunities to high school aged teens.  We call this "Starfish" volunteering, where teens actually have an opportunity to really make a difference with their weekly donation of time by helping specific disadvantaged children, abondoned animals, lonely senior citizens, or those with disabilities.
