- Children are one of the most vulnerable groups
in our society.
- Over 4 million young people suffer from physical,
mental or sexual abuse.
- Tragically, approximately three children die
every day as a result of child abuse or neglect. 85% of these
children are under the age of six.
- An estimated 1.2 million young people run away,
have no home, are thrown out of their homes, or are removed for
their own safety each year in the United States.
- Survivors of child abuse and neglect are at
greater risk for problems such as low academic achievement, drug
use, teen pregnancy and criminal behavior.
Family Facts and Statistics
- Single mothers head 27% of all U.S. households.
- 2.1 million children in the United States are
being raised solely by grandparents.
- In the last five years, the number of married
women working outside the home has increased. 38% of married women
with children work fulltime.
Rape Statistics
- A rape occurs in the U.S. once every 1.3 minutes.
- 84% of those raped knew their attacker.
- 57% of rapes occur while couples are on dates.
- One of three girls and one of five boys will
be sexually assaulted during their lifetime.
- For every rape that is reported, nine go unreported.
Substance Abuse Statistics
- There are an estimated 22 million Americans
suffering from substance abuse or alcoholism.
- 11 million of these same Americans admitted
to driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
during the last year.
- Children of alcoholic parents are four times
more likely to become alcoholics themselves.
- 2.6 million youth between the ages of 12-17
reported using an inhalant at least once.
- 67% of new marajuana users are under the age
of 18.
Center For Family Services Facts- Over 12,000 residents in Gloucester County
were connected with social service, medical, home and transportation
services through our free hotline.
- Our parenting programs have helped reunite
more than 8,000 families.
- Annually, more than 12,540 people learn about
bullying’s affect on children, and how to prevent child
abuse through our educational workshops.
- Our Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV)
Program works with more than 750 victims of sexual violence each
year, helping them become survivors.
- In one year alone, our shelter facilities provided
more than 500 children a safe haven.
- Center For Family Services formed through the
merger of three nonprofit organizations in July 2000.
- CFS is accredited by the Council on Accreditation
(COA), a national accrediting body of social and behavioral healthcare
services.
- CFS serves more than 90,000 people annually
through direct service, education, and outreach.
- A nonprofit, 501 (C)(3) organization, CFS operates
with an annual budget of more than $20 million and employs more
than 400 full and part-time staff.
- CFS has 6 office locations, seven youth shelter
facilities, Mother Child Residential, the Domestic Violence Safe House and more than 40 programs providing in-home, school and community
outreach services.
